1. Thimpu

3. Taktsang Monastery

Some locals claim that this is where he meditated for three months during the 8th century. Aside from that, it’s also believed that the Guru Rinpoche also flew from this location, coming from Khenpajong, Tibet and fought a demon while riding a tigress. After that, he performed a meditation in one of the caves here and made the place blessed.
With that, this place has been popularly known as the “Tigers Nest,” while Guru Padmasambhava as the man who introduced Buddhism in Bhutan.
4. Wangduephodrang
The Wangduephodrang is the last town on the central highway before you can reach the central of Bhutan. It’s situated in the south of Punakha and it’s a town that has a very rich pastureland for cattle. Though, that’s not all; it’s also a district best known for the bamboo products it has to offer, together with stone carvings and slate. Wangduephodrang is open for everyone, and a lot of people enjoy going here, especially when they’re celebrating autumn.
5. Punakha Dzong
Last, but definitely not least would be the Punakha area.
